Nairobi-Amboseli.Our driver guide will pick you at your hotel Nairobi at 7:00am and drive you to Amboseli passing through the Athi Plains where formerly the Burchells zebra, the Masai giraffe and smaller herbivores roamed about freely. With human encroachment the wildlife is confined to game parks. There is an advantage to this because one has to drive inside a park to be rewarded with the sight of many different species of animals. Amboseli National Park is reached in the afternoon, for lunch; embark on an afternoon game viewing in the park at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro (19,340 ft). AmboseliEarly morning game drive can be taken in Amboseli when Mt. Kilimanjaro usually appears from its mantle of clouds, morning and afternoon game viewing in Amboseli , the game Proceeds to the area of Lake Amboseli, which is a wide salt pan, consisting of permanent swamps. This area has much game, large and small, high concentration of Elephant, rhino, buffalo, Burchell’s zebra, eland, Masai giraffe and small species of the antelope family, the common water buck, klipspringer, Grant’s gazelle, impala, topi, and the diminutive duiker among others. Amboseli –NaivashaEarly morning breakfast. After breakfast game en-route leave Amboseli for Lake Naivasha .There will be a stop to view the Great Rift Valley scenery as you proceed to Naivasha. You will arrive in time for lunch, check in at Sopa Lodge Naivasha. Later in the afternoon in exploration of Naivasha with various activities at your cost. You can do any of the activities below but at your extra cost. Activity 1: Boat Ride Experience on a boat ride on the calm waters of Naivasha.Afternoon wind and storms can cause the Lake to become suddenly rough and produce high waves. For this reason, the local Masai christened the lake Nai'posha meaning ''rough water'', which the British later misspelled as Naivasha. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree. These forests abound with bird life, and Naivasha is known as a world class birding. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores. Giraffes wander among the acacia, Buffalo wallow in the swamps and Colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the Lakes large hippo population sleeps the day out in the shallows. The region surrounding the Lake is well worth exploring. There are two smaller lakes nearby, Oloidien, and Sonachi, a bright green cater lake. Activity 2: Visit the crescent Island A short boat trip from the mainland out into Lake Naivasha gives you access to the unique Crescent Island Wildlife Sanctuary. A wide variety of wildlife, birdlife and flora lives quite freely out there and as there are no predators to be found, quite happily as well. Spend some time wandering around at your own pace and enjoy the peace and quiet broken only by the sounds of the Islands wild inhabitants you cannot miss to see the Masai giraffe, zebra, dik diks, steenbok, impala and gazelles among other animals. Activity 3: Hells Gate You will proceed to hells gate .Once at the Park, you have the option of a game drive in a Safari vehicle or take bikes into the Park. Cycling in the Park is a great adventure as you get to ride the bikes for 7 Kilometers a midst wildlife before resting at a ranger's post. Enjoy the spectacular views of the gorge. The volcanic activity is very evident from the hot water streaming on the walls of the gorge. The guided gorge walk takes two hours. The hot springs and a fabulous scenic landscape besides the diverse wildlife are just incredible. Naivasha –Maasai Mara Game ReserveAfter breakfast, proceed to Maasai mara game reserve via Narok town then enter the Maasai mara road and drive across the plains to the camp. Check in at the camp for lunch. The meals are buffet, enjoyed either in the dining or under the shade of indigenous trees. The culinary affair is indeed one to delight the senses, have a few minutes relaxing and enjoying the surrounding before you depart for an afternoon game drives. Masai Mara Game ReserveAfter breakfast, a full day of game viewing with picnic lunch, exploration this part of the Northern Serengeti Ecosystem where the great wildebeest migration takes place at the beginning of August. Months before the actual migration the herds ‘assemble’ in Serengeti in readiness for the crossing into Masai Mara. The plain is literally covered with these animals. Grunts and other animal sounds are heard, and territorial fights are commonplace. The migration, now declared the Seventh Wonder of the World takes place from end July to September. Africa has a long history of capturing the imagination of travelers, a continent of dramatic contrasts that gives you an unforgettable and remarkable experience whether it’s in an amazement of watching thousands of wild beasts struggling across a rushing river that is littered with crocodiles waiting for their prey, makes the world’s premier wildlife spectacle. The afternoon is spent on a game drive in search of the black manned lions which the park is famous. Lion making a kill can be witnessed in the late afternoon or a leopard in a tree enjoying the meal he has dragged up to avoid disturbance and detection. The large predators are the lion, leopard and cheetah. The smaller predators are the hyena and jackal. The large herbivores are the elephant, rhino, Burchell’s zebra, hippo, buffalo and giraffe. The smaller herbivores are the antelope and bucks. The Maasai ostrich, the world’s largest bird is found in the park.
